Our Lady of the Assumption Vision and Values

At Our Lady of the Assumption, our mission is inspired by the words of Jesus: “Let Your Light Shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) We want every child to recognise the gifts God has given them, to grow in confidence and faith, and to use those gifts to make a positive difference to others.
Our values of being Open, Loving and Aspirational are at the heart of school life. We strive to be open to God and to one another, loving in the way we care for and serve our community, and aspirational for every child, encouraging them to achieve their very best and become the person God calls them to be.
Our Mission Statement
As a caring Catholic community, we seek to follow the words of Jesus: ‘Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.’ We do this by living the Gospel and being Open, Loving and Aspirational.
We nurture faith, resilience and ambition; develop knowledge, skills and understanding; and encourage everyone to recognise and develop their God-given talents, achieve their very best, and use their gifts to make a positive difference to each other and the wider world.

PENTECOST WHOLE SCHOOL LITURGY AND CELEBRATION
On Friday 17th May 2024, we gathered as a school community in church to celebrate Pentecost. Our liturgy was led by Father Frank and children in Year 4 and 5. We explored the meaning of the ‘Fruits of the Spirit’, children in Key Stage One waved their streamers to show the coming of the Holy Spirit and we even ended with a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ to the Christian church! A joyous occasion for all!

70th Anniversary Celebrations of our school…
On 1st November we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of our school! Following a whole school Mass in church, we invited parishioners and ex pupils into school for a coffee morning. It was lovely to meet some of the ex-pupils who remember our school from years gone by and we enjoyed sharing photos and memories together…
